Terms Entered in Search
A name, location, or other term entered into a search tool is transmitted to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Olmsted County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider may collect, process, or retain information under its separate privacy policy, so its terms control that transaction.
Messages Sent to Us
If you send an email or use a contact form, we retain the message and the contact details needed to respond. We use that material to address the communication and keep any related administrative record. We do not share a message outside the organization unless doing so is required by law or necessary to respond to a valid legal demand.
Technical Visit Information
Our systems and service providers may record routine technical details when a page loads. Those details help deliver the site, measure performance, and diagnose errors. They can include:
- The internet protocol address associated with the request
- The browser name, browser version, and related capabilities
- The device category and operating system
- The pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- The referring website or link, when one is supplied
- The date and time of each request
Cookie Controls
Cookies and similar tools help show how visitors move through the site and whether features work as intended. You may block or delete cookies through browser settings. Some functions, preferences, analytics, or advertising may behave differently when cookies are limited.

Privacy on Linked Services
Links may lead to Olmsted County Sheriff and Adult Detention Center resources, Minnesota DOC and court portals, VINE, federal locators, release-record sources, and third-party search services. Minnesota government data are governed in part by Minnesota Statutes chapter 13, including the public-access rule in section 13.03, but that law is separate from this private site’s practices. Once you leave this site, the destination’s privacy policy controls its collection and use of information.
Advertising partners may use cookies or similar technology on their own systems to recognize activity across websites and select interest-based advertising. Their collection takes place under their policies, not under direct control of Olmsted County Released Inmates.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be provided to service providers or authorities when needed for the functions described here:
- Search partners that receive and process submitted queries
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that deliver and assess advertisements
- Law enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order
Security Has Practical Limits
We use standard administrative and technical practices intended to protect information in our control. No internet connection, storage system, or security process is entirely risk free. We therefore cannot promise that unauthorized access, loss, or misuse will never occur.
Use by Adults Only
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor submitted information directly to us, a message through the Contacts page may request review and deletion.
Choices About Your Data
Subject to applicable law and the nature of the request, you may ask us to:
- Provide a copy of personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Delete information that no longer needs to be retained
- Stop or limit certain processing where an opt-out applies
These requests concern data controlled by this site. Requests about an Olmsted County release record, Minnesota DOC profile, court case, or other government source must go to the office that maintains it.
Changes to This Notice
We may revise this Privacy Notice as site practices or legal duties change. A revised version will be posted here and will identify a new effective date. Continued use after posting means the updated notice applies to later activity.
